/Mattias Brunn, recipient of the Staffan Göthe Prize 2019. The prize is awarded by Colombine Theatre Agency “to a bold and confident playwright with deep insight into the art of acting, as well as the unique capacity of the theatre stage”.
Mattias Brunn is a Swedish playwright, director and actor who has been praised by critics and audiences for his work based on themes of power structures, masculinity, gender and sexuality. His work includes plays performed at a large number of theaters throughout Sweden and abroad. His monologue “…after Fredrik” has also been successfully performed in Czech translation at several theaters in Prague, Czech Republic for over ten years. Brunn lives in Stockholm and between 2015-2019 he was one of three artistic directors at Folkteatern Gävleborg. In 2019 he survived a serious stroke and is currently focusing on rehabilitation and creating new stories. Here is a selection of Brunn’s plays with press quotes.
